2.1 Description of the short-circuit-protected rotary switch system
This rotary indexing table system operates in an automatic cycle sequence.
The base unit is a solid cast construction in which the main drive motor and the cam central drive are installed. The station units, preferably standard OKUMAT units, are mounted on its outer surfaces. Their low-maintenance guides achieve high repeat accuracy in continuous operation.
The cycle rate of the assembly system is continuously adjusted via a frequency converter. The frequency converter immediately switches off the main drive motor in the event of an impermissible load increase (e.g., in the event of a blockage). This prevents the assembly system from being overloaded. A soft start ensures that the assembly system starts up without damaging the material.
All work movements of the assembly system are driven centrally and therefore always run synchronously with each other. The main work movements of the stations and the switching movement of the rotary indexing table are controlled mechanically by hardened cams. Auxiliary movements—for example, opening and closing grippers—are pneumatically actuated and also controlled centrally.
The compressed air supply and the installation of the valve islands with fieldbus connection are integrated above the stations in the plant's protective system.
The assembly system is suitable for continuous operation.
